Leading Off…

The rebound today lacked volume, which really means that today lacked conviction.  Although the rebound feels good the question you most likely have is what’s next?  The market is in a transitional period.  Past leading stocks are rotating, while new leading stocks are emerging and trying to emerge.

Want to know the easiest way to tell a market in transition – before it happens?   When you do your weekend research you should be able to find 5 or 6 candidates that are in the upper 2% of the market and are nearing technical buy points.

When you can’t find five or six candidates and the stocks you have or have been tracking look tired – take this as a clue to start harvesting profits and selling laggards.  This is easier said then done… I know… We’ve all tried to wring the last cent out of every move – only to then give up a big gain and take a loss or smaller gain.

Our job isn’t to sell at the top or get in at the bottom.  Our job is to catch the heart of the move consistently and predictably.

With this in mind there are several stocks setting up that have come across my screens.  One is Under Armor $UA.  I wrote about this on Sunday evening.  It was up almost 2% today after announcing a stock split.  Stock splits aren’t anything to get excited about.  Superior fundamentals and technicals are.

With the Fed meeting looming large & no one knowing what the Putin is going on … it’s best to keep your powder try for now.  We’re stalking leaders right now at NorAm Asset Management and waiting to strike for our clients when the market confirms a move higher technically.

If you want to know the optimum time to sell your stocks listen to this workshop I taught this weekend.  I cover selling, when to let your stocks ride, the best time to enter the markets and a strategy that will lead you to victory in 2014.  Here’s the link –  http://www.thewallstreetshuffle.com/
